Each year at the GMiS Conference, college students have the opportunity to showcase their latest research findings through a poster presentation to STEM professionals. Recognized as Research Scholars, students are encouraged to present individual and unclassified research performed as part of their dissertation, master thesis, senior project, co-op, internship or research experiences. The purposes of the GMiS Research Poster Competition are to:
- Provide a premiere, national forum for traditionally underserved and underrepresented STEM undergraduate and graduate students to showcase their technical research talent
- Challenge students to communicate their research with a balanced technical/lay audience perspective
- Stimulate interest in scientific and technical research
- Encourage networking among students and STEM professionals with similar research interests
- Increase public awareness of the relevance of STEM research and its benefits to society
- Recognized as Research Scholars, students are encouraged to present individual and unclassified research performed as part of their dissertation, master thesis, senior project, co-op, internship or research experiences. Students will present their research to STEM professionals from industry, academia, and government agencies.
The 2024 GMiS Research Poster Competition (RPC) will be held in-person on Wednesday, November 6 (Undergraduate Students) and Thursday, November 7 (Graduate Students) as part of the 2024 GMiS Conference, in Fort Worth, TX. All posters will also be shown at the Graduate School & Career Fair on Saturday, November 9.
Undergraduate and graduate students, from historically underrepresented groups in STEM, are invited to submit an abstract and present a poster on their ongoing/current research project. Finalists will present their research to STEM professionals from industry, academia, and government agencies.
