The HENAAC Awards Show is the nation’s premiere Hispanic STEM recognition event and the apex of the conference. Taking place Friday, October 3, 2025, this inspirational awards event showcases winners who have an opportunity to share important lessons about their life’s journey to an audience of up to 1,500 professional and student attendees. HENAAC Award Winners are selected from a pool of nominees and peer-reviewed by the Selection Committee. Nominations are open through May, 2025, and winners will be announced in August.
Viva Technology™ High School (HS) is a national education program designed to engage high school students, teachers and parents to stimulate their interest in the application of technology and provide STEM-focused career pathways.
– A viewing of “A Million Miles Away”, a movie based on José Hernández’s life story.
– Students will have a chance to meet José Hernández and ask him questions about his life and career.

The Research Posters Competition provides graduate and undergraduate students in STEM, computing, health and medicine, the opportunity to compete and showcase their scientific and technical aptitude. Students submit a comprehensive technical abstract from which finalists are selected to present their poster at the GMiS Conference in Fort Worth, TX this November.

The GMiS K-12 STEM Educator Institute immerses educators in standard-based and culturally responsive activities and lessons. Educators will have the opportunity to engage with STEM professionals from industry, government and academia. Upon leaving the Educator Institute, teachers will have one week’s worth of lesson plans to implement with their students.
